In reading the book of Acts, particularly chapter 2, you can observe the birth of the church and get a glimpse of what the early church did and looked like in verses 41-47. It was during this time that the church took on a boldness and fervor produced by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit as was foretold by Jesus in verse 8 of chapter 1, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all of Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (ESV). This mighty role can be seen carried out by the powerful signs, wonders and miracles God did through His church. People were being delivered from their sin bondage, their sicknesses and diseases were healed, and more importantly, more than ever believers were being added to the Lord. This was definitely a “new thing” God was doing; however, God’s plan was not to keep it as it was. In chapter 7 we can read about the all-encompassing sermon of Stephen which he brings forth to the religious people and their leaders. The sermon was so piercing to the heart that it produced a similar effect to when Jesus preached to the religious people. These people thought that they would put an end to the spreading of this “new thing” by killing Stephen. This was not the case, the “new thing” God was doing in Jerusalem was about to have an exponential growth this time throughout Judea and Samaria (Acts 1:8). The “new thing” was now reaching the rest of the world. What Satan meant for harm; God turned it around for His glory! I am persuaded that it is a “new thing” God is doing in our midst this very moment. He is moving in our area in a mighty way; I have been hearing of and seeing His work in a heightened manner and this is only going to spread like in the book of Acts. People are looking for change, but the change they are seeking is genuine and permanent and only God can do that. We are celebrating 27 years of ministry and I must say that it is exciting to see the move of God’s Spirit as His work continues to reach areas and needs of Greater Springfield that we may not have seen before. Church let’s move forward with the “new thing” God is doing!

 

Dios Hace ~Algo Nuevo~

 

Al leer el libro de los Hechos, particularmente el capítulo 2, uno puede observar el nacimiento de la iglesia y visualizar lo que la iglesia hizo y como era en los versículos 41-47. En esta era la iglesia obtuvo una confianza y fervor producido por el investimento del Espíritu Santo lo cual fue antes predicho por Jesús en el capítulo 1 y el verso 8, ~Pero recibiréis poder, cuando haya venido sobre vosotros el Espíritu Santo, y me seréis testigos en Jerusalén, en toda Judea, en Samaria, y hasta lo último de la tierra~. Este rol poderoso se ve llevarse a cabo por medio de las señales poderosas, milagros y maravillas que Dios hizo por medio de Su iglesia. Multitudes fueron liberadas de sus cadenas, sus enfermedades y dolencias fueron sanadas, y más importante, más que nunca los creyentes fueron agregados al Señor. Esto, definitivamente, era ~algo nuevo~ que Dios estaba haciendo, sin embargo, no era Su propósito dejar la situación así. En el capítulo 7 podemos leer sobre el mensaje abarcador de Esteban dado a los religiosos y sus líderes de su tiempo. El mensaje era tan tajante al corazón que produjo una reacción similar a cuando Jesús predico a los religiosos. Estos religiosos pensaron que iban a poner fin a la proliferación de ~algo nuevo~ al matar a Esteban. Esto no fue el caso, el ~algo nuevo~ que Dios estaba haciendo en Jerusalén estaba a punto de experimentar un crecimiento exponencial esta vez en Judea y por toda Samaria (Hechos 1:8). Lo nuevo ahora estaba alcanzando el mundo. ¡Lo que Satanás propuso para hacer daño, Dios lo turno en algo para Su gloria! Estoy persuadido que ~algo nuevo~ esta Dios haciendo en medio nuestro. Él se está moviendo en nuestra área de una manera poderosa; he oído y he visto la obra de Dios de una manera incrementada y esto se va expandir como en el libro de Hechos. La gente busca un cambio, pero el cambio que buscan es genuino y duradero y solo Dios puede hacer eso. Celebramos 27 años de ministerio y es sumamente emocionante ver el Espíritu de Dios moverse en áreas de necesidad en Springfield que posiblemente no se ha visto anteriormente. ¡Iglesia, movámonos adelante con ~lo nuevo~ que Dios está haciendo!
